Week 3 ̴ Macro Collage

This week I took pictures of some plants that I planted at work and around my home. Along with a few mushrooms I found growing in my backyard. For most of the pictures I used the macro setting but for some I used a setting on my camera called Super Macro, which is for when you have your lens anywhere from less than an inch to 11.8 inches from your subject that your photographing. As for the software I used for the collage, I used Microsoft Research AutoCollage. It's a trial version software that you can download.  I like it a lot better than all the other collage software I've found, because it allows you choose which picture is the main focus and move outward from the center of the collage with the rest of your images. It has a few other features that are basic, but I really like how it blends the pictures together rather than having white framing around each image. The only downside is in the trial version you have a company watermark that takes up a little bit of space at the bottom.

  1. I love how you made this mushroom to be the center of this collage! I think that because of mushrooms being center, it made colors (from flowers) to pop out since mushroom's color is light. I am curious why did you decide to take a picture of mushrooms since you have lot of flowers? Reason I asked that was that textures were completely different between flowers and mushrooms (I think)

  2. Very nicely completed. It is hard to even tell that they are separate pictures. They blend together so well. I find it interesting to look at.

  3. Terrific job! I love the mushroom being in the center of the collage. The texture on it is amazing! The flowers look like a frame around it. I also like the mushroom in the upper right-hand corner.

  4. Nice photos! The colors all blend together so perfectly. I as-well, like the mushroom in the middle. The texture of the mushroom looks so clear and detailed.

  5. Travis,
Wow I love the colors of all the flowers in this collage. I also love that you made the mushroom the focus point. The detail of texture is amazing in the photo. Nice job!

  7. Travis,

Nice job with your collage. I too, like that you put a mushroom in the center. I am glad you commented on the collage software that you used, because I ran into a problem with mine. Initially,, I tried to place pictures exactly where I wanted them, after they were automatically put into my collage. But, the pictures then became distorted. So, I am happy to know that there is software out there that allows you to put the pictures where you'd like. In your collage, I like the different colors. You chose nice, bright, contrasting colors and they looks great together.

  8. You made a kind of border out of the flowers, neat. That mushroom is really weird and cool, nice addition. I might have liked a bit more variety in the flower shapes, but that mushroom hit it out of the park.

  9. I really like how the edges of the photos are blurred so it looks more like a bouquet of flowers rather then just separate photos.

  10. I really like the mushroom in the middle. I think I'd prefer to use the program you did then the one that I did. I was trying to make one picture stand out more that the others, but wasn't able to. I like the color of the flowers on the outside of your collage as well.
